Handmade in Florence, Italy These Florentine Lily dangle earrings are handcrafted by me in Florence, Italy, inspired by the Giglio Fiorentino — the historic emblem of Florence. Each earring features a 1.4 cm (14 mm) Florentine Lily pendant, suspended from a classic hook ear wire, creating an elegant and lightweight dangling effect. Made from 925 sterling silver and carefully finished by hand.
THE STORY OF THE FLORENTINE LILY
The Giglio Fiorentino, or Florentine Lily, has been the symbol of Florence for centuries and is deeply connected to the history and identity of the city. According to tradition, the flower is associated with the irises that have long grown in the countryside surrounding Florence. The emblem became one of the most recognizable symbols of the city during the Middle Ages. The historic Florentine coat of arms features a red lily on a white background, a color combination traditionally associated with Florence after the political struggles between the Guelphs and Ghibellines in the 13th century. Over the centuries, the Florentine Lily has appeared on buildings, monuments, coins and works of art throughout Florence, becoming an enduring symbol of the city's history, beauty and craftsmanship. Today, walking through Florence, you can still find the Giglio Fiorentino throughout the historic center. These earrings are my way of transforming this centuries-old symbol into a small piece of jewelry that you can carry with you.
